About

P1020815 SmallMy name is Phil Morley.  I am a writer, problem solver, internet entrepreneur, blogger, architect, husband, father, and brand new grandfather, with a desire to help people grow their businesses and improve their lives.  I do this by writing carefully crafted news releases, articles, and case studies that drive traffic to their websites, increase their sales, raise their visibility in the marketplace, grow their brand, and (sometimes) cause journalists to get interested and write a compelling story about them and their business, which will then accomplish all of the preceding.

What follows are random tidbits about me, so stop reading unless you are just totally bored. You’ve been warned.

English and spelling have always come easy to me.  I earned a spot at the Texas State Spelling Bee in 7th grade and placed 7th.  I lost on ’simile’, a word I have despised ever since.  Whoever invented simile should have given it two ‘m’s.

I was bitten by the entrepreneurial bug at a young age, you know…the kid with the lemonade stand.  My dad would take me downtown to a candy wholesaler where I would buy a few boxes of my favorite candies (with my own money), then come home and sell them one at a time in front of my house.  Unfortunately, I had an incredible sweet tooth and would generally eat most of my profits when traffic was slow.

I always knew I would have my own business someday, I just didn’t know what it would be.  Then, when I was in 4th grade, I saw a tv show on Frank Lloyd Wright’s incredible, iconic Falling Water residence in Bear Run, Pennsylvania, and I was hooked.  I never wavered after that…I would be an architect and make my fortune!

I earned Bachelors and Masters degrees in architecture from Texas A&M University.  In the five year gap between those diplomas, I served as a Combat Engineering Officer in the US Army, joined MENSA on a whim but never attended a meeting, earned my private pilot’s license and glider rating, came close to crashing a private plane and a glider (separate incidents), learned to rappel backwards and frontwards (that one’s a bit tricky), and earned my Airborne wings jumping out of perfectly good airplanes (not ones I was flying, however).

After I got out of the Army, (in reverse order of importance) I cleaned up after a hurricane, learned how to engrave trophies, logged oil wells in the Gulf of Mexico, did a little silk screening, learned to detail structural steel shop drawings, landed my first architectural job, and married the love of my life.  I never believed in love at first sight until I spotted Mary Diane across the dance floor at her high school graduation dance.  I asked my date to introduce us and we’ve been ‘dating’ ever since.  That was 37 years ago and we’re doing better than ever.

We have three smart, beautiful, talented kids, two of whom have gotten married, and one of whom just presented us with our first grandson (Cade Philip – I like that name).

In my professional career, I have been an estimator, architect, builder, project manager, developer, business owner, civic leader, and professional problem solver.  In my private life, I have helped raise three great kids of whom I could not be any prouder.  I am very involved in my church. I have been through good times and bad times (but not many), and my faith has sustained me through both.

Throughout my life, one of the things I have done reasonably well and often is to write.  I have written contracts, reports, studies, fee proposals, and news releases. I now write a blog www.MasterProblemSolver.com, and will soon publish my first e-course, Become a Master Problem Solver Almost Overnight.  I have never written professionally, until now, but I can string words together in a reasonably coherent fashion.

With the advent of the Internet and the explosion of home-based and small businesses, I have observed that there is a crying need for these people to get their message out to the buying public.  I am convinced there is a real demand for reasonably-priced news releases that, in one page or less, explain the features and benefits of the product or service.

And then (and here’s the key)…these releases are able to be distributed almost instantaneously through the Internet to hundreds of thousands (even millions) of prospective buyers across the country and even the world.  Better yet, the cost of this exposure is a mere fraction of the cost of traditional advertising.

This is starting to sound like a sales message, so I’ll end here.  Thanks for stopping by.  I’d like to hear from you and get to know you, if only through this blog and e-mails.  Please e-mail me if you want to discuss something or ask a question.  I look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,
Phil Morley
